When difficulties come—whether from our own failures, the failures of others, or the fact that the world is broken—we should never see ourselves as victims. Rather, we are to remember that “God is for us” (Romans 8:31). No matter what circumstances we face, we can choose to have the mindset of victors not victims.
If you believe that God is for you, then you also ought to believe that God can use even the most difficult situations in your life for your good and His glory. That’s the promise of Romans 8:28: “God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” And what is the highest good God could imagine coming out of our trials? That we might “become conformed to the image of His Son.” God’s purpose is to use every circumstance we face to mold our character to become more like Jesus Christ.
